New Battlefield 2 Special Forces Interview!
With Battlefield 2 burning up the sales chart since its release in
June, EA hasn't wasted any time in commissioning an expansion pack
for the game in Battlefield 2: Special Forces. There's a wealth of
new content in Special Forces, including an impressive six new
armies (compared to just three in Battlefield 2), along with a slew
of new maps, weapons, and features. For a quick situation report on
the expansion, we caught up with longtime Battlefield producer Mike
Doran. Special Forces is expected to ship this winter.
Game Spot: First off, there are a lot of people voicing concern and
complaints that current issues in Battlefield 2--such as bugs and
balancing--haven't been addressed, but yet DICE is working on an
expansion anyway. Would you like to address that?
Mike Doran: This is a common misconception that we'd love to
address. The truth is that work on Battlefield 2: Special Forces
began several months ago. The expansion pack is being developed by
DICE Canada, while DICE Sweden is running the post launch support
team. To be clear, we are actively working on the next patch, and
development of Special Forces has in no way affected our continued
efforts towards supporting the base product.

Battlefield 2 MOD Editor (Open Beta)!
EA and DICE are pleased to announce that today, after two weeks of
Closed Beta testing, we are releasing the first public version of
the Battlefield 2 editor! Over the last couple of days you've
probably seen some of the outstanding work that the Closed Beta
teams have created using the tools, and now we're giving everyone
else the chance to join the fun. Keep in mind that we are
considering this release "Beta" software, so it’s still a little
rough around the edges, though we’ve worked out many of the kinks.
Also, though most core functionality is editable as of this release,
there are several more advanced areas of the tools that are still
being worked on. One example of a tool to be delivered in a future
update is the Single Player Editor.

Stats not updating anymore
Hello!
After my nice holiday weekend at the Nuremburg speedway (watching
German touring cars) some things have changed here. First of all our
web server crashed last Friday and it did not auto-reboot for
unknown reason. So the website was down the whole weekend and no one
could fix it because all admits were camping at the Nuremburg. The
Server Problem should be fixed now. Web Servers are back up and
running again.
The bad news is that EA has blocked all bigger stats-tracking
websites because Game Spy was not able to handle all those queries
on their servers. According to bf2s.com they blocked all websites
now to make sure the In Game Experience does not get affected
anymore by stats websites. They also said that we should expect a
new way to get the stats "soon". During this time we will not be
able to update your stats anymore. We don't have any access to the
stats anymore so we can not update them. We have to wait till
EA/Game Spy/IGN give us a new method to get the stats. There is no
official statement yet so I also don't know what's going on or how
long it will take till we can update our stats again. Looks like we
have to wait a little bit. According to bf2s.com up to 2 weeks ...
However ... Buddy lists and online/offline status should still
work. Your Stats will get updated again after EA sorted out the
performance problems on their servers. During this time you have to
use your In Game BFHQ to view your stats.
Sorry for the bad news

C.S.A's. Ringers
More roomers in the C.S.A. world! Roomers have been circulating
around the net about C.S.A. squad bring on experienced Battlefield 2
pros to help them experience there unbelievable scores and total
domination on ranked servers. After speaking too many of my
connections in the C.S.A I have been affirmed that this is totally
untrue. C.S.A states that these members are just people used to sub
for missing members in times of extreme need.

The Mysterious 6th member
There have been rumors flying around the Battlefield 2 Community
about a sixth team member to the C.S.A. squad. After talking with
members of the team I can affirm that there is no sixth member but
sources close to C.S.A. Claim other wise saying that while there is
no sixth member there are people who are brought on to the team from
time to time to help out with matches.
